Aiming to reduce single use plastic in Whitstable
Plastic Free Whitstable
PFW is a group of concerned local residents trying to reduce single-use plastic in our community. We started meeting in early 2018 and by the end of the year we had achieved Plastic-Free status from Surfers Against Sewage, the first place in Kent to do so.
Our objectives include:
- Working with Canterbury City Council to eliminate single-use plastics in council-controlled venues and events and encourage their support for plastic-free communities
- Encouraging and offering support to businesses to replace single-use plastic with suitable alternatives
- Spreading the word through community organisations, schools and public places
- Organising and participating in events including monthly beach cleans with our partner organisation Whitstable’s Marine Environment Group
- Reporting to a steering group of community stakeholders on a yearly basis
If you would like further information please message or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

We miss you and we know lots of you miss us. We've had emails, messages, and been stopped in the street. We know the garden would be a lovely haven for lots of you to escape to at the moment.
So why are we not opening the garden and cafe to the public over the Summer?
